Crossbills continue to be seen. Theres been a Franklin's gull at Howes Wick Holm...The Great White Egret is still showing well at Greameshall Loch and there was a Rednecked Phalorope at Eves Loch Derrness but may well be gone now. The Red necked Greeb has reapeared on Bosquoy Loch Harray and was reported last night. Its still there tonight and below is a shonky wee film of it.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog. These are just every day tales of birding and related Orkney stuff. With a bit of luck I hope to give a bit of a glimpse into life in the northern isles, I am not what you might call an expert birder. I am quite keen though and am lucky enough to live in a great place that is stuffed full of outstanding history and brimming with natural history. With it’s abundant and diverse flora and fauna on land and sea and great birds that go on year round these islands are a treasure trove of delights. So if you can manage to drag your self’s past my poor grammar hopefully I might give you a small taste of the feast that is living in Orkney..
