BIRDING..STARS..STONES..SHORE
I hope you enjoy reading my blog. These are just every day tales of birding and related Orkney stuff. With a bit of luck I hope to give a bit of a glimpse into life in the northern isles, I am not what you might call an expert birder. I am quite keen though and am lucky enough to live in a great place that is stuffed full of outstanding history and brimming with natural history. With it’s abundant and diverse flora and fauna on land and sea and great birds that go on year round these islands are a treasure trove of delights. So if you can manage to drag your self’s past my poor grammar hopefully I might give you a small taste of the feast that is living in Orkney..
Do me a favour Daf and tell me if the pic on my blog is a Greylag gosling. It's been hatched by a Mallard and I've no local goslings to use as reference. It looks like a Greylag.
ReplyDeleteI posted about it on orkbird asking of simler ocurences or an id on the gosling but apart from a comfermation it was a gosling i seem to have hit a wall of indiferent silence here tim. I thought it would prove interesting if it was behaviour thats been seen before. It would be yet another presure on avalable habitat with their rapidly increasing numbers.
